Ganpatrao Deshmukh is a member of the peasant and workers party, he is the longest-serving MLA of Maharashtra. He was elected 11 times from the Sangola constituency in Solapur, Maharashtra. He is also a former Minister.
In his entire political career, he contested in 13 assembly elections, In which victory was 11 times and lost only 2 times in 1972 and 1995. In 1995 he lost with a margin of barely 192 votes by his opponent.
