Punjab Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 34 runs in the 26th match of IPL 2021 played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This is Punjab’s third win in seven matches. This is Bangalore’s second defeat in seven matches.

 

PBKS vs RCB First Innings and Target 

After losing the toss, Punjab scored 179 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. In response, Kohli’s RCB could only manage 145 runs for eight wickets in the scheduled overs. All-rounder Harpreet Brar bowled brilliantly for Punjab Kings. He took three wickets for 19 runs with a maiden in his four overs. Apart from this, Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets for 17 runs in four overs.

Not a good start for Bangalore

Earlier, the Royal Challengers Bangalore started off chasing a mammoth target of 180 runs from Punjab. Opener Devdutt Padikal was bowled out after scoring seven runs by Reale Meredith. 


After the first wicket fell for 19 runs in the third over, Rajat Patidar and captain Virat Kohli shared a 43-run partnership for the second wicket, but they could not score fast. Kohli scored 35 runs in 34 balls with the help of three fours and a six. At the same time, Patidar scored 31 runs in 30 balls. He hit two fours and a six. 


After these two were dismissed, the middle order of RCB was shattered like playing cards. During this, Glenn Maxwell 00, AB de Villiers 03 Shahbaz Ahmed 08 and Daniel Samms 03 were dismissed. In the end, Harshal Patel scored 31 runs in 13 balls with three fours and two sixes. At the same time, Kyle Jamieson scored 16 runs in 11 balls. 


The Winning Knock

Harpreet Brar took three wickets for 19 runs with a maiden in four overs. At the same time, Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets for 17 runs in four overs. Apart from this, Chris Jordan, Mohammed Shami and Reale Meredith had one success each. 


KL Rahul gave a good start  

Earlier, Punjab started off to bat first after losing the toss and it was not a good start. Opener Prabhasimran Singh returned to the pavilion with a total of 19 from seven balls. However, after this, captain KL Rahul and Chris Gayle attacked the bowlers of Bangalore. 


Gayle scored 46 runs in 24 balls. During this, six fours and two sixes came out of his bat. Punjab’s innings faltered after the second wicket fell for 99 runs in the 11th over. During this, Nicholas Pooran was out at 00, Deepak Hooda 05 and Shahrukh Khan at 00. 


In the 15th over, Punjab had lost five wickets for 118 runs, but after this, Rahul turned the match’s stand by playing an unbeaten innings of 91 runs in 57 balls. With this, Harpreet Brar, playing the first match of the season, remained unbeaten after scoring 25 runs in 17 balls. Brar hit a four and two sixes. At the same time, Rahul hit seven fours and five sixes. 


At the same time, Kyle Jamieson took the most two wickets for Bangalore. Apart from this, Daniel Symes, Yuzvendra Chahal and Shahbaz Ahmed got one success each.
