Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 33 runs, The Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan took four wickets as hosts Bangladesh registered a 33 runs victory over Sri Lanka at the Sher-e Bangla Stadium in the first ODI on Sunday i,e 23-05-2021. Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga played attacking gameplay but in the end, the luck goes with Srilanka.

Sri Lanka Chased a target of 258 runs and could not get a good start as Mehidy took two wickets in at the beginning. They are only able to score 40 runs for 2 wickets within 8 overs. After these terrible dismissals, Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera together built a great partnership but again Bangladesh doesn’t give much chance for them They took four quick wickets in the next few overs and broke the partnership.
Perera took the wicket of Mehidy and Dhananjaya de Silva while Mendis is dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan. After that Mohammad Saifuddin sent back Dasun Shanaka with 14 runs. Bangladesh was slowly conforming their victory as Sri Lanka were 102/6. But after the fall of 6 wickets, Wanindu Hasaranga came into the action and played magnificent innings of 74 runs in 60 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes. but after that, Bangladesh strikes back again and took his wicket on a crucial stage of the match, and in the end, Bangladesh has registered their victory by 33 runs.

Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal won the toss and opted to bat first. In the first innings of the 1st ODI at the Sher-e Bangla Stadium, Bangladesh wicket-keeper and batsman Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah gave a great start with the fifties and help their team to reach 257/6. After their dismissals, Mushfiqur Rahim scored 84 runs in 87 balls with four boundaries and a six, and Mahmudullah made his fifty with 54 runs in 76 balls.
Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal also scored a fifty and helped his team to get out of the trouble after losing the first two wickets quickly. Sri Lanka pacer Dushmantha Chameera took the wicket of Bangladesh opening batsman Liton Das, while Shakib Al Hasan was also dismissed by spinner Danushka Gunathilaka.

The Sri Lankan bowlers, Dhananjaya de Silva took 2 wickets in two balls and dismissed Iqbal and Mithun in the 23rd over of the first innings. Dhananjaya picked a total of three wickets in his spell while the other bowlers Sandakan, Gunathilaka, and Chameera took one wicket each.
The Bangladesh bowlers, Shakib Al Hasan took four wickets and Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets for his team. Mohammad Saifuddin also picked two very important wickets and Shakib Al Hasan has played great innings and brings the victory to their team.
